It was a smash hit on Broadway and in the UK, and now hit musical Sister Act is coming to Australia.
The musical adaptation of the hit film starring Whoopi Goldberg will be at Sydney's Capitol Theatre from August, and Melbourne's Regent Theatre from November, with tickets going on sale on February 29.
The show follows disco diva Deloris, whose life takes a surprising turn after she witnesses a murder and is placed under protective custody in a convent.
Encouraged to help the struggling choir, Deloris helps her fellow sisters find their true voices, and unexpectedly rediscovers her own.
The show features original music by Tony and Oscar award-winning composer Alan Menken, who penned an exciting bunch of songs inspired by Motown, soul and disco.
With a book by Cheri and Bill Steinkellner, the show was nominated for five Tony Awards, and six Olivier awards.
Producer John Frost said he was extremely excited to bring the show to Australia for the first time.
"It's a brilliant, must-see show that will lift audiences up and I know Australians will get into the habit of seeing again and again," he said.
