Get ready to do the Time Warp, Sydneysiders: cult musical smash The Rocky Horror Show is coming to the Harbour City.
Coinciding with the hit show's 50th anniversary, the Sydney dates - at the Theatre Royal from February 19-March 12 - will launch an international tour of the musical.
The show will star Jason Donovan as Frank-n-Furter and Myf Warhurst as Narrator.
Other cast members will include Ellis Dolan, Darcey Eagle, Ethan Jones, Deirdre Khoo, Loredo Malcolm and Henry Rollo.
The Rocky Horror Show has become one of the world's favourite musicals and is the only contemporary rock musical to celebrate 50 years on stage.
Since opening in London Royal Court's Theatre Upstairs in 1973, it has been continuously on stage somewhere in the world and become a true classic of musical theatre.
It has been seen by over 30 million people in more than 30 countries and translated into 20 languages.
The show tells the story of squeaky clean college kids Brad and his fiancée Janet, who meet an extra-terrestrial mad scientist from the galaxy of Transylvania where people really like to party.
Writer and creator Richard O'Brien said there was no more fitting place than Australia to launch the global tour.
"With over 14 productions since its very first production in 1975 - The Rocky Horror Show is one of Australia's most performed and beloved musicals of all time," he said.
"To be celebrating 50 years is beyond my wildest expectations."
Broadcaster, TV presenter, journalist and Eurovision commentator Warhurst said she was very excited to star in a role that had previously been filled on Australian stages by Bert Newton, Derryn Hinch and Gretel Killeen, among many others.
"If my 15 year old self had any inkling I'd be invited to be a part of a legendary musical that not only celebrated difference, changed lives and had cracking songs to boot, and I would be starring alongside Jason Donovan, she'd be squealing," Myf said.
Myf will not perform from March 8-12 due to Eurovision commitments.
"It's a huge honour to be invited to be a part of this historical show's 50th celebrations and to finally show the world my moves to the Time Warp that I, like so many other people, have practiced for most of our lives on dance floors all over the world."
