The Wharf Revue will set its telescopic sites on Australia's new 'Captain' Anthony Albanese when it returns to Australian stages this October .
The Wharf Revue: Looking for Albanese will be at Canberra Theatre Centre's Playhouse from October 24, before heading to Sydney's Seymour Centre from November 12 and touring nationally in 2023.
Revue creators Jonathan Biggins, Drew Forsythe and Phillip Scott will be joined on stage by Mandy Bishop for this year's show.
This years iteration of the much loved annual show will give a satirical run down of the year's hot topics and events, such as inflation, rising interest rates, the conflict in Ukraine, climate disaster, culture wars and the cancellation of Neighbours.
It will take an in depth look at the new Prime Minister's first six months in office.
"Whether he's Albo Baggins tackling the Mountain of Debt, down a rabbit hole in Wonderland or fighting a terf war in Inner West Side Story, Australia's favourite new PM is ably supported by Tanya (Plibersek), Chris (Bowen), Tony (Burke), Jim (Chalmers) and Katy (Gallagher)," the show's creators said in a joint statement.
"Not so much by Jacqui (Lambie), Allegra (Spender) and Pauline (Hanson) on the very cross benches. And let's not mention King Charles, Vladimir (Putin), Boris (Johnson) and Joe (Biden) - oh bugger, we just did."
Canberra performance times will be 7.30pm every night from October 24-November 5, with additional 1.30pm matinee performances on October 29 and November 5.
Sydney's season will run from November 12-December 11. Performance times will be 6.30pm Tuesdays, 8pm Wednesday-Saturday and 5pm on Sundays, with matinees at 1pm on Wednesdays and 2pm on Saturdays.
2023 tour dates and venues will be announced in the coming months.
