As cycle tourism across NSW booms, more and more riders are heading for the quiet back roads, scenic rural landscape and appealing tourist and historical sites of Cowra.

The Central West town offers a variety of prospects and routes to embark on.

Central West Tours owner Nicole Moroney says she loves the way tour participants immerse themselves into the town and all is has to offer.

"Recently two groups of touring cyclists came to Cowra, utilising our e-bike hire and mapping services. We were thrilled to hear both groups indicate that our region is on par with their European experiences and that they loved Cowra, remarking how beautiful the region is," she said.

"Cycle tourists are often (quite literally) keen to take a road less travelled, meaning that tourism can be spread throughout the region, reaching some of our smaller villages, towns and quieter attractions."

On June 17, Central West Tours launched its eight-day Cowra Cycling Tour, which started at Cowra, before heading to Woodstock, Canowindra, Goolagong, Eugowra, Grenfell, Koorawatha and then back to Cowra.

"We are delighted to be able to showcase every town's best assets from the Japanese Garden, Fossils, Ben Hall History and Murals as well as taking in plenty of fabulous country air and gorgeous scenery along the way," Nicole said.

"We are very proud to be able to play our part in promoting our fabulous region and add to ensuring the future economic growth, employment and sustainability of our amazing town through tourism."
