CARERS of people with a life-limiting illness can now access a new one-stop resource from Palliative Care Victoria.
Help for Families and Carers gives information about services and resources available in Victoria and nationally.
The resource, for families and carers in the Victorian community, is available through the Palliative Care Victoria website, with links through to relevant websites.
The help information was inspired by feedback from members and partners of Palliative Care Victoria. It aims to people caring for those with a life-limiting illness, such as some advanced cancers, organ failure, dementia and other conditions.
It covers:
- Start points to get help – health care, aged care, disability services, service search
- Specific groups – older people, people with disabilities, children and young people, Aboriginal people, people from diverse cultural and language backgrounds, people with mental health needs, and LGBTI people
- Specific topics, including: aids and equipment, complaints, communication assistance, financial help, respite, spiritual care, transport
- Tips and tools for safe care.
