MALENY on the Sunshine Coast has always been a tightly knit community and the Knitfest Yarn & Fibre Arts Festival is a great opportunity for residents to show pride in their patch.
The event, from June 30 -July 1, will see Maleny's main street transformed into a hub of colourful activities including yarnbombing, decorated tree cosy competitions, workshops, talks and children's activities.
There will also be demonstrations, music, competitions and markets.
The festival encourages young and old to share their passion for fibre arts or to start developing new skills. The town will also be wrapped in giant fibre sculptures.
Maleny's fibre artists, arts and craft groups, knitting for causes groups, artisan groups and craft suppliers will be on hand.
A stargazing evening will be hosted by the Brisbane Astronomical Society.
