FROM office tower to a 176-room hotel, Mantra MacArthur Hotel is the latest hotel to open in Canberra.
The hotel is the result of a $19 million retrofit.
Instead of sending the 10-storey building to landfill or concrete recyclers, it has been transformed into a full-service hotel in what looks like a brand new building.
The hotel, in Northbourne Avenue in the inner city suburb of Turner, is close to the central business district, the Australian National University and has a light rail stop directly outside seamlessly connects it with the city.
The modern industrial design features 136 hotel rooms and 40 suites, as well as a restaurant and bar serving Mediterranean-style cuisine, a fully equipped gym, conference and meeting spaces, car parking, internet lounge and 24-hour reception.
There is an opening special from $129 per night in a studio room including a generous WiFi allowance, drink voucher on arrival and 12pm check-out.
