IF you’re plotting a colourful mid-autumn getaway, it may be worth visiting the KaBloom Festival of Flowers.
The festival is on at the Tesselaar Flower Farm in the Dandenong Ranges until April 15 and is bringing a “carnival of colour” to lovers of all things botanical.
Nurseryman Paul Tesselaar said the festival gives people an extra opportunity to see the farm in addition to the tulip festival, which runs for four weeks in spring.
“KaBloom gives us another opportunity to invite people into our paddocks and interact with colour and nature,” he said.
“It also continues my family’s strong tradition of sharing their passion for cultivating and growing plants that began over 60 years ago.”
The festival launched with an Easter inspired Chocomania weekend with Easter egg hunts, live entertainment and an appearance from the Easter Bunny over the Easter long weekend.
Family fun days from April 9-13 will feature activities and workshops as well as a wide variety of entertainment for youngsters. Other highlights include a 1940s and ’50s themed Rock the Fields weekend (April 7-8) and the closing weekend (April 14-15).
The farm will open every day from 10am-5pm throughout the festival. Adults $25, concession $22, children under 16 admitted free.
