Hear an exquisite rendition of chart-topping classical music be played by world-class musicians on an Australian tour during April.
Omega Ensemble is presenting Re:Classical, a transformative musical experience that sounds new and yet full of familiar delights.
This foot-stomping performance features Max Richter's The Four Seasons Recomposed, a recomposition and reinterpretation of Vivaldi's violin concertos The Four Seasons. The music reached the top 30 in the Dutch, Danish and Austrian album charts.
It has been described as being "capable of evoking joy and pain in equal measure".
For non-classical fans, Vivaldi's composition has been heard in the 2023 show Wednesday and 1981 film The Four Seasons.
Ensemble artistic director David Rowden said Richter has had a global impact on classical musical worldwide since the piece's release in 2012.
"Richter is one of the few composers who has achieved both critical acclaim in traditional circles while also making a distinguishable mark on the popular musical zeitgeist."
Performing the piece is violin powerhouse Véronique Serret, who has had a notable career collaborating with artists across the spectrum of Australian music, from the Australian Chamber Orchestra to didgeridoo virtuoso William Barton.
The concert will also include two world premieres from Grammy Award-winning American composer Jessie Montgomery and Australian musical legend Elena Kats-Chernin.
Montgomery's Concerto Grosso was commissioned by Omega Ensemble in partnership with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and received an international premiere in Chicago in March.
Kats-Chernin has also reworked her Clarinet Concerto Ornamental Air - originally composed in 2007 for British clarinettist Michael Collins - for the ensemble, compressing the forces of an orchestra into a powerful new chamber work.
