What a whirlwind the past month has been as I stepped into the shoes of Editor for The Senior.
I've had so many wonderful emails and letters, and some not-so-wonderful.
I noticed a theme of complaints began to emerge from our readers, and became startlingly clear when I visited the Seniors Festival Expo in Sydney in the middle of March.
No, it wasn't there were not enough prizes - stay tuned for May to find our who won our Wendy Wu cruise to the Mighty Mekong.
No, it was not around the content of articles - on the contrary, there was much love for The Senior from the thousands of silver foxes, men and women, who greeted me in Sydney.
No, complaints didn't centre around our Giant Crossword - I do acknowledge some people have missed the Sudoku, but the big puzzle at the back of the paper is proving very popular indeed while there are plenty to test your skills on our website.
What I discovered was people struggled to pick up a copy once it hit the shelves on the 1st of the month.
That made my heart flutter, and my tummy all warm inside, as it's nice to be popular.
Yes, people were complaining that the much coveted monthly edition of The Senior was disappearing like hotcakes at their local club/chemist/corner shop and they had to be quick to get their hands on one.
I am happy to offer several solutions:
- Check your local library, as that's a fail-safe outlet.
- Call The Senior, and ask where to find it in your postcode - Toll Free 1800 001 987.
- Jump on the internet and read the Digital Copy of our pages, via www.thesenior.com.au - great if you have a large smart tablet.
- Browse the latest news all month-round via our website www.thesenior.com.au - check out the free puzzle page!
- Get the paper delivered to your house.
For the cost of postage ($36 for a year, or $28 for Seniors Card holders), you may never miss an issue again by having it delivered straight to your door. For more details call 1800 001 987 (on Mondays, Wednesdays or Thursdays) and press OPTION 4.
I do hope this helps.
