Rejuvenate yourself with fresh air, local culture and sweeping landscapes while exploring a stunning part of this state on foot.
Northern Tasmania Walks offers four-day guided walking tours through Devonport, Narawntapu National Park, Beauty Point and West Tamar Valley. After each day of exploring, relax and retreat in the comfort of a hotel before setting off on a different path the next morning.
Your guide and walking enthusiast, Saikim Wan, will surprise and delight you by sharing her local knowledge about the area, its history and culture, while exploring the beautiful natural landscape.
"When I walk, I feel grounded and connected to everything around me. I love walking with others as the shared experience of joy and challenge strengthens relationships and encourages new friendships."
There is so much to see; walk beside the Mersey River that flows out to Bass Strait at Devonport, plus see the Spirit of Tasmania docked in port, sailboats and fishing boats, and from the Lighthouse, the arc of the white sandy beach. On the Don track, spot Bennetts Wallabies, Pademelons and native birds including wattle birds, thornbills and fairy wrens while walking among melaleuca trees beside the lagoon.
Learn about the shell middens and other artefacts at Narawntapu National Park, home to Aboriginal people for thousands of years. Smell the fresh salty air and feel the clean white sand underneath your feet as you walk along Bakers Beach and Badger Head.
Forrester kangaroos graze openly on Springlawn and along the track there are Bennett's wallabies and Tasmanian pademelons.
Each day you will enjoy excellent hospitality plus a few surprises, including a visit to a maritime museum and a sail aboard a replica of Julie Burgess.
The launch walk is on April 19-22 and will be a women-only group.
A self-guided tour is also available with a comprehensive booklet that contains the maps, the tracks and the trip details along with an app to follow on the phone.
