From the Goldfields in Victoria's west to Melbourne - car enthusiasts will have a rare chance to see more than 120 classic cars hit the roads next week.
The Targa Classica will see drivers travelling more than 1100km through the Goldfields, Warrnambool and Torquay en route to Melbourne's Federation Square from March 18-21.
Boasting a collective worth of more than $150 million, the field includes brands such as Bugatti, Porsche, Alfa Romeo, and Ferrari, alongside Australian made classics like the Holden Sandman, Torana, and a range of Fords.
Andrew Lawson founded the event, drawing from the inspiration of his experience competing in events such as the Targa Florio in Sicily and the Mille Miglia.
"We wanted to create an event that celebrated cars, the event's Italian roots, and also Victoria's regional centres," he said.
"Our aim is to create a traveling motoring festa where local spectators can enjoy the spectacle of the cars, interact with the drivers, and immerse themselves in the event."
Now in its sixth year, the event has attracted drivers from all over Australia competing across two categories - Classica and Legend.
It is also attracting an increasing number of international drivers keen to experience Australia's great driving roads, spectacular landscapes and world class food and wine.
There will be plenty of opportunities for spectators to catch a glimpse of the action, and rub shoulders with drivers during a number of community meal stops.
The journey will begin at the RACV in Creswick in the afternoon on day one, with drivers travelling through Clunes, Daylesford, Trentham, and Ballan before returning west to Victoria Park in Ballarat.
On day two the field will travel through the Grampians, and on to Warrnambool and Flagstaff Hill.
Day three will see drivers passing the 12 Apostles on the Great Ocean Road, then on to Otways for lunch before returning to the Great Ocean Road and travelling on to Torquay.
On day four, drivers will enjoy a run on the Calder Park Raceway before commencing the final run back to Melbourne.
Cars will be displayed at both the Goldfields and Federation Square prior to the start and end of the event respectively, with other highlights to include slow time trials, a gin tasting and music and gelato at the finish line.
