Counting down to that longed-for adventure on wheels but not not sure where to start?
The Grey Nomad Awards shine a light on regional Australia with 14 national categories that showcase the best places for travellers aged over 50 to stay and play around the country.
A total of 41 tourism experiences were named as the best in Australia for mature-age visitors on March 8, with Queensland dominating.
Heading the list was Bullara Station Stay in WA's Exmouth Gulf.
The agritourism property was named the Best of the Best after being named the Gold Award winner of the Best Farm or Station Stay and the Best Grey Nomad Experience in WA.
Best of the Best is handed to the winner that impressed the judges most, as determined by the highest cumulative score from all winners.
Awards director Kim Morgan said the event provides verified information for this key segment; according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Australians aged over 55 possess nearly a third of the country's disposable income.
They also have time and are highly motivated.
"As a nation, our love of the open road has never dimmed, and with Australia being a big country it's important to know where to visit to have extraordinary experiences. That's where the Grey Nomad Awards come into play," Ms Morgan said.
