MORE retirees are opting to downsize their homes - but finding the ideal retirement village can be overshadowed by the large number to choose from.
That decision is easier since the release of the Retirement Living Council's Retirement Living Code of Conduct, an industry-led initiative designed to help village operators provide a trustworthy and high-quality service for those living in, considering moving into or leaving a retirement community.
The code was launched to help people identify retirement communities committed to high quality standards across all aspects of the operation, management and marketing.
Hundreds of retirement village owners and operators signed up, agreeing to operate with integrity and transparency and maintain best business practises across their villages.
By signing up, retirement village operators agree to align their businesses with the set of standards so that every resident understands village managers are fully accountable to them, particularly when it comes to conflict resolution.
Residents are able to contact the code administrator via the website if they believe that their village operator is failing to fulfil their obligations.
The code creates and promotes the vital element of trust and confidence when it comes to making that critical later-life decision of choosing your home.
