Good news, if you're Tasmanian! Energy provider Aurora is set to offer a little relief.
The provider is offering customers three hours of free electricity in January and February through its Power Hours initiative.
All residential customers with an active aurora+ account are eligible to sign up for the initiative.
It will offer customers free use of electricity over a number of timeslots from January 25-28 and February 24 and 25.
The provider plans to turn the offer into a regular promotion. Eligibility will be capped at one three hour window per customer for each month the promotion is offered.
Chief executive Nigel Clark said the initiative was a way of giving back to loyal customers.
"The idea of a power hour is already known as a time that people set aside to get things done or focus on a task, which works nicely with the idea of using your 'Power Hours' to do things such as washing, cleaning and showering," he said.
"We want to make energy easy for Tasmanians and one way we can do that is by empowering them to make better energy choices."
Mr Clark said another way the company was doing this was through "advanced meter technology", which allows customers to see how and when they use electricity.
Aurora+ is available to anyone with an advanced (smart) meter on an eligible tariff and there is no fee to use it.
