Mrs Collins and Mrs Gardam were born at Ridgley in 1923, but do not often have the chance to be together any more. Mrs Gardam now lives in Hobart and Mrs Collins in Burnie.
The twins came together for the first time in two years, along with about 40 friends and family members who gathered from all over Australia to celebrate the lives of the two women.
Doreen' son Max Collins said the pair boast five children, 12 grand children, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren between them.
"Before they were married, they were known as the Bramich twins," Mr Collins said.
"They used to have a bit of fun, they would swap clothes.. they loved confusing classmates and teachers," he said.
Mr Collins said the pair would even get up to mischief when it came to their boyfriends; they often enjoyed swapping dates.
"I don't think some of the poor fellas ever had a clue," he said.
The twins both married returned World-War II servicemen. Audrey moved to Hobart when her husband, who was working as a customs officer, was promoted.
Mr Collins said Doreen and Audrey had been looking forward to being together again for their birthday for months.
"They're just ticked," he said.
"They've proudly got on display their letters from the King, the Prime Minister, and all the politicians."
He said he was sure the pair were the oldest twins in Tasmania, but he could not determine whether they hold the title of the oldest twins in Australia.
