Chief executive Melissa Argent turned the first sod alongside builder Michael McNab, Economic Development Queensland's Debbie McNamara and Rockpool co-founder and chief finance officer Michael Watson.
It will be Rockpool Residential Aged Care's fourth aged care home in South East Queensland.
Located on Whipbird Place, it will offer residents a range of care options including residential, respite, memory support and palliative care.
Ms Argent said it will leave an enduring legacy on south-west Brisbane.
"We are building this home in the heart of the Songbird community," Ms Argent said.
"The setting is surreal and symbolises what Rockpool is all about - a habitat which is safe, secure, inclusive, reflective and vibrant with life.
"Innovation and sustainability will underpin construction, with the look and feel very similar to our Carseldine and Pelican Waters homes.
"The 152-bed home will allow residents to live in small domesticated communities with a shared lounge and dining area at the heart of each community.
"All the creature comforts and luxuries of home will be incorporated into the six-level build, which will feature a variety of room designs suitable for singles and couples.
"Residents will have access to domestic kitchens for supervised cooking, walking tracks, an on-site laundry, landscaped gardens, outdoor barbecues, a purpose-built hobby shed, a hair and beauty salon, and a fully equipped wellness and vitality centre."
C&K Childcare will adjoin the site, allowing for inter-generational engagement.
