A beautifully captured image of a Pixie's Parasol mushroom has won the top prize in the 2023 Seniors Card Through the Lens photographic competition.

The winning photo was chosen from more than 660 images and will feature on the SA 2024 Seniors Card Discounts and Deals Directory.
Through the Lens is Office for Ageing Well's annual photographic competition for Seniors Card members, which showcases and celebrates the skills and creativity of older South Australians.
Winners were announced at Adelaide's City Library in Rundle Mall on Thursday, October 5, in six categories:
- Judge's Choice - Early morning opportunity - Lawrence Vassallo
- Landscape and Nature - Into the Unknown - Steven Genesin
- Artistic Photography - Bubbles - Colin Haigh
- Portrait - Tribute to a Gentleman Artist - Chris Pazera
- Active ageing - Embracing Senior years with oomph! - Bron Michelle
- Meaningful connections - Together Again - Sue Belperio

Finalists and winners in each of the categories have their work featured in the Through the Lens exhibition at the library throughout October.
"Great photos allow us to connect, they tell a story and allow us to glimpse the subject through the photographers' eyes," SA Seniors Card manager Evlynn Hayes said.
"This year's talented finalists and winners certainly achieved all that and more and show that it is never too late to start a new hobby or renew enthusiasm for an existing one."
