Cashless KFC restaurants have sparked outrage amid calls to boycott businesses ditching cash.

A sign outside the Morriset KFC in NSW's Hunter region states the restaurant is cashless and accepts card only.
A photo of the sign was shared on Facebook and stirred debate about the move away from cash.
"This was interesting to see. I thought this wouldn't be allowed and cash would be accepted everywhere," the user said.
"How long do you think it will be before all shops and everything in-between stop cash transactions."
One person said they would enjoy seeing what happened if there was an outage.
"It only takes a major incident or power outage to show cash is still very valuable," they said.
"I pity the poor kid who just got his pocket money and decided to head down to this KFC for a snack," another person commented.
Many people called for a boycott of cashless stores, including when the news was shared to the 45,000 members of Facebook group Call Out Cashless Businesses.

However others were supportive of the move and thought it would be safer for workers to have no cash on the premises.
A KFC spokesperson said a small number of restaurants accepted card or digital payments only.
"This is at the discretion of our franchise partners and is in line with legal requirements.
"All cashless KFC restaurants display signage explaining what payment methods are accepted."
