A number of nature reserves and parks will be joint managed by the state government and Yinggarda Aboriginal Corporation following finalisation of a deal that was four years in the making.

The government and corporation finalised the Indigenous Land Use Agreement during a signing ceremony earlier this year, following a negotiation process that was assisted by the Yamatji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation.
Plans for the agreement started in 2019, as part of the government's Plan for our Parks Project. Following a community information session in Carnarvon in September 2021, a Traditional Owner negotiation team was appointed by Yinggarda Common Law Holders and the negotiation process formally began.
Under the agreement, the government and corporation will share joint vesting and management of the Kennedy Range National Park - including planned additions to the park, as well as a new national park over the ex-Pimbee pastoral lease.
The government also agreed to joint management of two additional existing nature reserves.
Benefits under the agreement will include on-Country ranger positions for Yinggarda Common Law Holders.
Following the signing ceremony, the first joint management meeting was held in early March.
The agreement will now be lodged with the National Native Title Tribunal for registration.
