The Northern Territory has announced quarantine-free travel for fully vaccinated Australians will begin from December 20, 2021, regardless of hotspot classification.
Fully vaccinated travellers arriving from a classified "red zone" by plane or car will need to return a negative PCR test 72 hours before arrival and then a rapid antigen test on arrival.
Every person entering the NT will complete a rapid antigen test on arrival.
The territory government said its announcement comes in time for Australians to enjoy Christmas in the NT and a tropical summer escape.
Travellers can also take advantage of the NT Summer Sale, offering savings of up to $1000 for fully vaccinated holiday visitors. The sale is available until March 31, 2022.
The Top End is home to a variety of attractions including full-flowing waterfalls, an abundance of wildlife in Litchfield, Kakadu and Katherine, cruises along Darwin Harbour or down Nitmiluk Gorge, epic sunsets and spectacular lightning shows.
Meanwhile, the Red Centre is home to waterholes (now full after recent rain), helicopter rides, hot-air balloon experiences, Aboriginal art galleries, Uluru and Kings Canyon.
