Planning your next NSW getaway? Make sure you have these two towns on your must-visit list.

Berrima and Mudgee have been announced by Business NSW as NSW's Top Tourism Towns, voted by the public and an industry panel as the top destinations for an outstanding visitor experience.

Mudgee, known for its fine food and wine, is a great escape - particularly for Sydney city dwellers wanting a getaway not too far from home.

Only a a 3.5-hour drive from Sydney, it has all you need for the ultimate country escape. Along with heritage streetscapes, great eateries, beautiful scenery and plenty to see and do, there are over 40 cellar doors to visit. Winemaking here dates back to the 1850s, with the region's temperate climate ideal for producing robust varietals.

Historic Berrima is a beautifully preserved Georgian town with amazing food and friendly people. It's filled with charming heritage and delicious dining surrounded by the lush, green surrounds of the NSW Southern Highlands.

The awards are managed by the NSW Tourism Industry Council, and celebrate towns with a population of less than 5000, and a population of more than 5000.

Mudgee and Berrima will represent NSW at the inaugural Australian Top Tourism Town Awards to be held in Canberra in August.
