HUNDREDS of volunteers are needed in Perth for the Australian Masters Games in October.
Volunteer applications are now open, with organisers looking for people to take on roles across all areas of the event from registering participants at Games Central to working behind the scenes at the Games Logistics Centre.
Applications close on May 16 and there are around 1000 volunteering roles up for grabs. The majority of volunteer shifts will happen between October 7 and 16, but some will be required before or after the event.
Other positions involve everything from handling media inquiries and photographing action on and off the field to organising medals and helping people find their way around the sites.
The Games, which will run from October 9-16, is one of the largest multi-sport events in Australia and includes and expansive sporting as well as social program.
With an anticipated sport program of around 50 sports, the event is expected to attract up to 8000 participants.
Organisers said they are looking for "positive and team-focused people who are reliable and willing to go the extra mile".
Successful volunteers have to be over 18 and available for at least three shifts during the Games period.
The will need to complete a phone interview in May or June and complete training in September or October. Training will differ between roles and may include online and in-person training sessions.
Volunteers also have to be able to cover all travel and accommodation costs and be willing to undergo a security background check.
All volunteers receive a uniform and invitation to the volunteer-appreciation event after the Games.
