More Brisbane seniors can head to the barre with Queensland Ballet offering more classes for older dancers.
The ballet company is expanding its popular community dance classes at its state of the art academy facility in Kelvin Grove from this February.
With around 400 participants already attending weekly classes at its West End studio, the company decided to invite more locals to come and try a class at its second home.
Running every Sunday morning, classes on offer include beginner and intermediate Ballet for Seniors classes as well as a Seniors Ballet Repertoire session, where participants will get to experience what it is like to be a member of the corps de ballet of a company - rehearsing excerpts from famous ballets.
There is also an early years dance class for ages 1-5 and Ballet Level 1 for dancers aged 16 and over.
Queensland Ballet Head of Strategic Engagement Genevieve Dunn said the Ballet for Seniors class is the most popular class.
It is hoped with more classes on offer at Kelvin Grove more adults will have the opportunity to try the class.
Ms Dunn said there is something on offer for everyone and more classes will be added to the Kelvin Grove schedule throughout the year.
"All of our classes are led by Queensland Ballet's experienced teaching artists, who bring a wealth of knowledge and professional experience to every class," she said.
Situated near Kelvin Grove State College, the Queensland Ballet Academy opened to students last January.
The world-class facility boasts six large dance studios, two multi-purpose rooms, a gym and physio.
