TRAVEL vouchers worth up to $100 will be offered to South Australians to use towards accommodation across the state as part of a push to boost the visitor economy and jobs.
The government's $4 million voucher scheme - available from October 15 - will provide $100 vouchers for use at participating CBD hotels, and $50 vouchers to spend on regional and suburban accommodation.
A range of operators from five-star hotels to cabins in caravan parks have signed up to be part of the deal.
"Every additional hotel night booked will result in positive flow-on benefits across the sector, as jobs - from front of house staff to chefs, cleaners and baristas - are supported," said premier Steven Marshall.
Australian Hotels Association chief executive Ian Horne welcomed the move, as did South Australian Tourism Commission chief executive Rodney Harrex.
"We're already hearing some incredible rates from CBD hotels who have signed up," Mr Harrex said. "The $100 discount means South Australians will be able to stay in five-star rooms in the city for prices they have never seen before."
Great State travel vouchers go live on October 15 from 9am through to October 31 at 11.59pm unless the allocation is exhausted prior. The vouchers are eligible for stays until December 11 but Saturday nights are excluded.
