ORGANISERS of the popular Blues on Broadbeach festival will host a special online event next week.
Bandwidth, presented by Blues on Broadbeach, will capture live performances from the homes of artists who were scheduled to appear at this year's festival.
Australia's largest free music festival will go ahead in the form of a 90-minute music event which will be streamed live on Facebook from 7pm eastern standard time on May 15.
Performers are Tommy Emmanuel, Tami Neilson, Karise Eden, The Black Sorrows, The Turner Brown Band, The Soul Movers, Shaun Kirk, Li'l Chuck The One Man Skiffle Machine and Karen Lee Andrews.
There will also be an archived performance by The Lachy Doley Group.
Festival director Mark Duckworth said organisers wanted to offer an online experience to fans after the shock of learning the festival would not take place on the Gold Coast this year.
"As we informed the artists and fans, the idea that we could band together to do something virtual immediately followed," he said.
"Bandwidth is an online meeting point for our festival tribe, a celebration of our event and a snapshot of musicians working from home around the globe."
"It's a non-traditional concert experience that we can provide for our audience to enjoy. Turn on, tune in, drop out."
Tami Neilson said she was looking forward to performing from Toronto alongside her brother Jay.
"The best way to get rid of the blues is to sing the blues, so, I'm looking forward to joining you all online," she said.
