And The Makers Studio in East Gosford is keen to spread the word about the many opportunities for residents to get involved, explore their creativity and have fun.
Each month the studio conducts two-day master printmakers workshops.
Here's what coming up next:
- March 21-22: Seraphina Martin will present Collagraph with Viscosity printing, on the 21/22 March.
- April 25-26: Kathryn Orton will look at lino block and woodblock jigsaw prints.
- May 16-17: Contemporary fibre artist May Lorna Crane will present Think Ink and a Bit More.
- Every alternate Thursday and Saturday from 10-4pm members bring projects they are working on and create with others in a supportive atmosphere.
The studio also hosts members development days, which give members an opportunity to learn new techniques in printmaking.
To avid member Therese Gabriel Wilkins, printmaking is a bit like the famous line by Forrest Gump's mother about chocolate boxes: "What makes it most exciting is that you really don't what you're going to get until the paper comes off that press. You think, 'My God, it worked - though sometimes it doesn't!' "
