YOU can escape to the South Pacific with Air New Zealand's reduced fares to the Cook Islands on sale for selected dates between now and September.
Flights on the direct service from Sydney to Rarotonga start from $529 return in economy class.
They are available for sale up to January 29, or until seats on set departures are sold out. Sale fares are also available for Brisbane and Melbourne via Sydney.
Premium economy fares during the sale period start from $1089 return.
Air New Zealand's direct service to Rarotonga, the main island in the group, departs Sydney on a Friday evening and returns on a Friday evening, allowing for a six-night holiday in the Cook Islands.
Guests cross the international date line when flying to the islands, meaning they arrive on the day they leave Australia and lose a day on the return from Rarotonga.
Rarotonga features lovely beaches and crystal-clear turquoise lagoons, buildings no higher than a coconut tree and endless adventures from hiking to The Needle - a 413-metre-high volcanic plug in the centre of the island - to snorkelling, lagoon tours, cultural markets, fishing, biking and culinary experiences.
