After a successful run of almost two years in mainland wine regions, the funny bunch from Grapes of Mirth are on their way to Tasmania.
Launching at Josef Chromy Wines in Relbia on February 23, the event pairs six hours of comedy and music with wines and food.
Grapes of Mirth's Jason Nikolas said the event began with Merrick Watts and some funny friends at McLaren Vale in SA in 2017.
"Grapes of Mirth has a really good vibe, with really good people and really good comedians," he said. "We wanted to do more, and we've done 15 now."
Relbia, on the Tamar Valley Wine Route, just outside Launceston, was an obvious choice.
Joining Watts will be Tasmania's own Luke McGregor (of Rosehaven fame), Geraldine Hickey, Tom Ballard, Gen Fricker and David Quirk. Grapes of Mirth's resident DJ, Pedro Moshman, will keep the fun going between sets.
"People are used to going to comedy in a theatre," Mr Nikolas said. "This is a little different, with three comedy sets of around an hour or an hour and 15 minutes and plenty of breaks.
"We're bringing Pedro from Adelaide, who has become a personality himself. He has an amazing ability to play music that resonates with the crowd."
Patrons can buy Josef Chromy wine by the glass or bottle, and hampers or single dishes. The menu is designed around "something you can hold in one hand with a glass of wine in the other".
