THE picturesque South Australian township of Mount Pleasant will be the backdrop to fourth annual SA Spring Garden Festival on September 21.
The combination of the spring weather, broad variety of plant and garden wares, informative guest speakers, charming venue, diverse range of stallholders and workshops will see the township just north of the Adelaide Hills come alive for the day.
And that's not forgetting the special programmed events for the day, food and entertainment.
Gardening Australia presenter Sophie Thomson will again be special guest speaker. As well as appearing on the ABC show, she is a newspaper columnist, public speaker, TEDx presenter, author and horticulturalist.
Legendary SA native plant expert, ethnobotanist and author Neville Bonney (Knowing Growing Eating Edible Wild Native Plants and more) will be another special guest speaker on the day.
Faye McGoldrick, from the Mount Pleasant Natural Resource Centre, will talk about the very much in vogue insect hotels.
Insect hotels are popular among gardeners, fruit and vegetable growers due to their role in encouraging insect pollination. Faye will show how to make your very own.
Children's activities will be held throughout the day, including floral designing, face painting and nature play.
Local Country Fire Services will be on site for Bushfire Awareness Day, an opportunity to check out the latest in firefighting equipment, and for the kids to explore the big red trucks.
Mount Pleasant Farmers Market will partner with the festival, with extended trading hours to align with those on the day.
Admission is $5, $3 for pensioners and children under 15 free.
Gates open at 8am and will close at 3pm.
