ONE of the Whitsundays' most popular events - The Reef Festival will take place for the 19th time from August 1-4.
Mainly centred around the vibrant coastal community of Airlie Beach, this year's event has been re-branded as The Great Barrier Reef Festival in order to strengthen its ties to the natural wonder.
This year's festival will feature a mixture of old and new events, including a number of workshops.
Upcycling artist David Day will teach participants to make colourful fish from plastic waste which would otherwise become landfill or marine debris, with the results to feature in an art installation on Airlie Beach's foreshore.
There will also be new reef education workshops.
The popular Fish D'Vine comedy gala will return on August 1 in a new venue - popular seafood restaurant Rum Bar.
This year's gala will feature emcee Matt Isabella, and stand up comics Gary Eck and Greg Sullivan.
Other highlights will include the popular lantern parade, musical performances by Thandi Phoenix and Timomatic, Beats on the Beach and Chill in the Park.
There will also be night markets, carnival rides, food, fireworks, classic car and vintage clothing displays, wearable art awards and much more.
