ALMOST 200,000 people have visited the Melbourne Dog Lovers Show since it launched in 2013 and organisers are expecting another bumper crowd at the Royal Exhibition Building this year.
The seventh annual installment of the show will take place from May 3-5, with the show set to be bigger than ever - featuring over 600 dogs and more than 120 breeds.
This year's program will showcase a range of events in the new VitaPet Arena, including the inaugural K9 Ninja Warriors competition, skipping, frisbee and drag racing dog shows.
The building's forecourt will host an outdoor arena for the first time with events to include the inaugural high jump competition and the return of the Sheepdog speed trials.
The show will offer a range of talks by well known TV vets including Victorian born Bondi Vet Dr Danni Dusek, Dr Lisa Chimes, Dr Katrina Warren, who will once again join trainer Kelly Gill and her famous Wonderdogs.
Founder Jason Humphris said the show's dog adoption zone had also been taken to a new level, with a view to finding more loving homes for dogs than ever before.
:"Over 30 rescue groups and shelters are taking part to provide trusted, reliable information for aspiring and committed fur-parents about adoption and a chance to meet dozens of rescue dogs at the show," he said.
Over 40 clubs will participate in the breed showcase, which will showcase a number of rare breeds and there will be a chance to take pictures with some of Instagram's biggest canine stars.
Dog owners can also check out various exhibitions and shop for a range of dog products and services.
There will also be a patting zone, an area where owners can get expert grooming advice, speed dating for dog lovers, street artists, face and dog painting and a number of prize giveaways.
