SINK your teeth into the flavours of the country with the Taste of Tamworth Festival.
Held across 10 days in April, the festival celebrates all of the region's food offerings.
And while Tamworth is best known for its country music, its food is well worth the trip.
First stop on your culinary tour is Bicentennial Park for Taste in the Park on April 7.
Local producers will have their very best on show and available for sampling from 10am-3pm.
If you've got the grandies in tow, there's plenty of bite-sized action for them with lawn games, pizza-making classes, herb planting demonstrations plus a free fruit skewer station where kids can make their own fruit kebabs.
For a fancy day out, head to High Tea in the Gardens on April 9. Soaking up the fantastic scenery in the Botanic Gardens, guests can indulge in sweet and savoury delights from Tamworth's famous French restaurant Le Pruneau. This year's menu is set to include petite monte carlos, gluten-free zucchini slice, ribbon sandwiches, and of course, scones.
Bookings are a must, with tickets $35 per person.
If you consider yourself royalty when it comes to the barbecue, why not vie for the trophy at Tamworth's Steak Cookoff competition on April 13 at Welder Dogs?
There's more than $1500 worth of prize money (plus major bragging rights) at stake across steaks, burgers and wing categories. Entry frees start from $25.
If an extended affair is more your style, the Long Lunch on April 14 is a must. The signature event of the festival program, the lunch celebrates the region's finest produce in the leafy grounds of Tamworth's Anzac Park.
More than 150 guests will be treated to decadent three-course meal accompanied by a grazing table, all served by the area's leading chefs.
And it's not just the food that's local. Diners can sip on cool-climate wines and country beers, all grown and produced in Tamworth's backyard.
Tickets are $110 per person for the 18+ only event.
If you're inspired to try your hand at some of the culinary festival treats in your own kitchen, you'll need the right ingredients.
Luckily, the Tamworth Grower's Market is on from 8am-12.30pm every Saturday morning at the Tamworth Regional Playground.
Here you'll be able to pick up fresh produce including chemical-free and organic fruit and vegetables.
Alternatively, you can find gluten and dairy free foods at Le Pruneau Organic Markets, also held Saturday mornings at the restaurant on Bridge Street.
