RETIREES with a love of fine food will have a chance to hone their skills and learn some great kitchen tips and tricks based on the ideas of kitchen wiz Jamie Oliver this month.
Retirement living operator Stockland is hosting cooking demonstrations in Victoria, NSW, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and the ACT.
The demonstrations will be run by Jamie’s Ministry of Food – a program providing hands on tips based on Jamie Oliver’s recipes and cooking philosophy – Jamie himself will not be in attendance.
The two hour spring cooking demo events aim to help promote healthy living for older people and will include a tour of the village and display homes as well as a complimentary catered lunch.
Stockland’s Victorian Regional Sales Manager Andrew McLynskey said hosting the events demonstrated Stockland’s commitment to helping retirees live healthy and fulfilling retirements.
“We have been working with Jamie’s Ministry of Food for several years now to deliver healthy cooking and food nutrition programs in retirement village communities around the country,” he said.
“The programs aim to teach older people how to cook easy and nutritious meals so that they can maintain their independence and live comfortably in their own homes for longer.”
He said the events were open to any retiree in the area and it was not necessary to be a Stockland resident in order to attend.
“There will be an opportunity for attendees to tour the village, experience the community atmosphere, meet and talk to village residents and staff about the lifestyle, and inspect our great choice of homes,” he said.
