ANDRE RIEU fans can join the violin-playing megastar at an “intimate” one-off concert in Sydney’s Town Hall.
The self-proclaimed King of Waltz has announced an extra date to his Australian tour. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, August 2, at noon for the special concert on November 20 which will seat just 1000 people.
The venue is the smallest on his national tour, and the live concert will also be recorded on camera for upcoming cinema, TV and DVD release.
This concert is in addition to the two concerts at the ICC Sydney Theatre on November 21 and 22.
Rieu said the repertoire for the Sydney Town Hall concert will be different to the ICC concerts.
In the smaller concert Rieu, with his Stradivarius violin, accompanied by his 60 piece Johann Strauss Orchestra will play an eclectic mix of festive music with a chorus and soloists.
“My Johann Strauss Orchestra and I are so excited to come to Sydney and play this very special concert,” said Rieu.
“We will have so much fun and it makes me so happy that we will record this concert on camera for a later cinema, TV and worldwide DVD release.
“I’m really looking forward to my Australian tour and to see such an enthusiasm from my fans and that Australia welcomes us so kindly. Thank you for your support and love.”
Rieu’s orchestral tours draw more than 600,000 people per year, selling more than 40 million CDs and DVDs.
He has topped the world charts 30 times, received more than 500 platinum awards and three Brit-Awards for Album of the Year. He also has over 3.1million fans following him on Facebook.
Tickets for the Sydney Town Hall concert go on sale August 2 at noon, from $199.
