THERE is sure to be magical evening in store for visitors to Sydney’s Sir Stamford hotel in Circular Quay.
The historic hotel is where celebrated magician Bruce Glen will be hosting his magical soirees on Friday and Saturday nights.
Dubbed ‘The Gentleman Magician’, Bruce has been enchanting audiences for years at his weekly soirees, reminiscent of the famous ‘salons’ of 19th century Europe.
Glen is one of the select few admitted as an Associate of the Inner Magic Circle - the most exclusive magic club on earth with just 1400 members worldwide.
Before moving to the Sir Stamford, Glen performed his show at the Royal Automobile Club of Australia.
He was inspired to create his Magical Soirees by the father of modern conjuring Eugene Robert-Houdin and illusionist Max Malini. Parisians in the 1800s flocked to see Robert-Houdin’s ‘Soirees Fantastiques’ at the Palais Royal and in the early 20th century Malini performed for presidents and kings and was the talk of European society.
Guests will be greeted with champagne and gourmet canapés on arrival, before being transported back to a time when performers were summoned to entertain Europe's elite in the parlours of their grand salons.
Bookings essential, $75.
