SYDNEY-based community radio presenter Brian Crabbe will welcome Count Basie Orchestra leader Scotty Barnhart to his program next week.

Brian- who broadcasts his program There Goes That Song Again from Ryde-Hunters Hill based station 2RRR, caught up with the band leader for a recent phone conversation and will broadcast the chat from 11am on July 6.
The orchestra was originally formed in 1935 and became one of the best known Big Bands of the 1930s and 1940s.
While most of the other bands folded at the end of the 1940s, the Count Basie Orchestra continued.
Count Basie died in 1984, but the orchestra’s legacy has been carried on under a succession of leaders since then.
Scotty- a Professor of Music at Florida State University, was appointed leader in 2013.
Topics covered in the interview will include Scotty talking about the distinguishing factors that made the band unique, and that contribute to its continuing success today.
