THE amazing contribution of older Canberrans will be celebrated during ACT Seniors Week this month.
This annual slap-on-the-back, from March 12-18, is an opportunity for people of all ages to come together and celebrate the valuable input seniors make to life in the ACT.
Community organisations, seniors groups, businesses and government departments will hold events throughout the week, which again features the ever-popular Chief Minister’s Concert at Albert Hall in Yarralumla on March 13.
With performances at 11am and 1pm, concert-goers can join the band of the Royal Military College for an unforgettable show.
On March 15 the ACT Seniors Week Expo comes to Exhibition Park from 10am-3pm.
With more than 120 exhibitors, visitors can get information on health and community services, plus tips on writing wills, finance and options for staying in your own home.
Free shuttle buses will run to and from the event courtesy of the Flexible Bus Service. There is also free travel through Seniors Week on all Transport Canberra buses for Seniors Card holders.
Then on March 16 groups and individuals who have contributed to the community will be celebrated at the annual Positive Ageing Awards at the Canberra Labor Club.
