HOW do you feel about dining in complete darkness?
Following global success, Dans le Noir? ("In the Dark?") has opened its first official Dining in the Dark restaurant concept in Australia at The Como Melbourne, MGallery by Sofitel.
Diners are guided through their mystery three-course menu, designed by The Como Melbourne executive chef Dinesh Munirathinam, in pitch darkness.
Through limiting the sense of sight, other senses are intensified.
All Dans le Noir? staff guiding guests through the experience are visually impaired. They help diners become acclimatised to their strange environment and to learn to listen to their secondary sensors.
Founder Edouard de Broglie said the concept is a new way to experience food and is designed to provoke a thoughtful response.
The experience is available for dinner Thursday to Sundays. Guests can choose between three surprise menu options: the Feed Me Menu, Fishermans Cove Seafood Menu or Seasoned Vegan Menu (additional dietary requirements can be accommodated with notice) from $95 per person, or $125 with wine pairing.
