WHEN it comes to Airbnb, it seems seniors make the best hosts.
Airbnb says plenty of seniors are benefiting from a little extra cash while welcoming people from around the world into their homes.
According to internal data, hosts aged 60 to 90 are the fastest growing age bracket on Airbnb in Australia and now account for 16 per cent of all active hosts in the country. The oldest host in Australia is 91 and nearly 70 per cent of hosts are women.
The over-60 group is also the most-loved age bracket, with more than 85 per cent of guest reviews giving them five stars.
Airbnb says last year the typical host income for those aged 60 to 90 was about $6228, which many used to fund their own holiday travel.
