MEDIA personality Andrew Voss only ever wanted to be one thing- a footy commentator.
In his new book Stuff You May Have Missed, Voss reflects on his lifelong passion for the sport- combining thoughts on the game with a number of recollections, personal experiences and stories from the many great rugby league players he has met throughout his career- from his time commentating the national schoolboy cup, to calling the North Queensland Cowboys' breakthrough first grade win in its debut season in 1995.
It is full of footy facts along with ample servings of Voss' trademark sense of humour and emotion for the game.
The book also looks at a number of lesser-known players such as former South Queensland hooker Ray Herring, the little-known player who contributed to Mario Fenech's Falcon nickname for passing the ball into the latter's head.
Other stories include the two game career of former Australian cricket captain Mark Taylor and colourful and humorous recollections of some of the best tries and worst try fails the veteran caller has witnessed.
Taking readers from Townsville to Jacksonville and every 'ville' in between where the game has been played, Voss has compiled a volume of tales and facts that are weird, quirky and at times, unbelievable.
