GET ON track to see wildflowers on the Bibbulmun Track this spring.
One of the world’s great long distance walking trails, stretching 1000km from Kalamunda in the Perth Hills to Albany, the track winds through the heart of the scenic South West.
The Bibbulmun Track Foundation’s three-day Wildflower Wander leaves on September 23 from Murdoch and explores the Darling Range section.
The guided hike takes in one of the most scenic sections. Starting from Mundaring, the walk is suited to sectional end-to-enders or those yet to explore the track beyond Mundaring in the Perth Hills.
The walk is just one of a range of events on offer. Led by experienced guides there are day and overnight walks suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
The calendar has a number of day walks designed to get people outdoors, including Over The Hill day treks for fit over-60s.
There are also women-only walks. On the Blissful Balingup Belles event a weekend of pampering is on the menu with day walks, great food and massages.
Or for an overnight adventure staying out on the track there’s the Dandy Dwellingup Dames event next May.
For those planning their own adventure, the foundation hosts workshops to help with trip planning, navigation, hiking gear and food.
The series of Social Sunday Walks is a great introduction to the track. Led by trained volunteers, the walks are free for foundation members; $15 non-members.
The Wildflower Wander is $230 or $205 for members,
