THE courage of refugees is being celebrated on World Refugee Day (June 20) and as part of Refugee Week.
Organised by the Refugee Council of Australia, Refugee Week aims not only to raise awareness of issues affecting refugees but also promote harmony.
"Refugee Week is an opportunity to celebrate the invaluable contribution refugees make, day in and day out, to our community and our state," said NSW Multiculturalism Minister Ray Williams.
"This is a powerful time to reflect on the meaning of courage and come together in the spirit of unity and respect.
"This is also a chance to recognise the outstanding work of our community and volunteers in creating positive and successful settlement experiences for refugees and asylum seekers," he said.
