HE'S rubbed shoulders with the royal family and has been celebrated by the Pope.
And internationally renowned Melbourne pianist Alan Kogosowski was recently the special guest at the recently-opened Arcare Parkview Malvern East aged care facility in Victoria.
The maestro, who went from child prodigy to world expert on Polish composer Frederic Chopin, treated residents to an intimate piano recital.
"Alan was an incredible performer and the residents were just blown away," said Arcare's community marketing officer, Charlotte Cameron.
Alan's television series on the life and music of Chopin was hailed by the New York Times as "outstanding" and he was also a favourite of the late Princess Diana and Queen Mother.
As a child, Alan won the Australian TV talent quest BP Showcase, and first toured at age 13, including a performance on The Ed Sullivan Show in New York City.
The Times of London once described him as a "pianist of grand panache" and he was awarded a Vatican medal in 1999 for his charity work.
