WHAT price happiness? Can you even put a price on it? Well according to people in New South Wales you can.... and it's $10 million.
A survey by NSW Lotteries found that just over a quarter of the state's adults said they would need at least $10 million to realise their dreams. Another 20.7 per cent named $8 million as their dream price tag while 19.2 per cent thought $1 million would do the trick.
The latest result show a dramatic shift in thinking as just six months ago most people said they only needed $1 million to fulfil their dreams.
When asked how a big lotto win might bring them happiness, about a third of respondents said it would be being debt free and financially secure. More than a quarter said being able to help out family and friends would also make them happy.
NSW Lotteries spokesman Matt Hart said the results highlighted how people in NSW had diverse thoughts on what they thought could make them happy.
"From speaking to our million dollar winners, it's clear that everyone has a different and unique dream. For some its paying off the mortgage and going on a Mediterranean cruise, while for others it's that long overdue trip to the dentist and being able to go to the salon rather than colour your hair at home.
"It's surprising to see that in 2017 New South Welshman's dreams have suddenly become ten times more expensive to realise.
"Sadly, this survey suggests that New South Wales adults are feeling their dreams are a little more out of reach, perhaps because of concerns about the cost of living, the economy or maybe recent international developments."
