KUNUNURRA is known for its rock pools and rock mines. But in May a different kind of rock star will be unearthed at the booming East Kimberley town.
Australian rock royalty will head west for one of WA’s most spectacular festivals.
Veterans Daryl Braithwaite and Jimmy Barnes will be the headline acts, along with country music’s The McClymonts, at the Kimberley Moon Experience concert, part of the Argyle Diamonds Ord Valley Muster.
The 10-day festival is set against the magnificent backdrop of the Ord Valley and Lake Kununurra – 800km from Darwin and more than 3000km from Perth.
Running from May 19-28, it promises to be an unforgettable experience.
As well as headline music acts, there will be a rodeo, food events, comedy and Indigenous dance.
Ord Valley Events chairwoman Narelle Brook said she expected tickets to be snapped up fast.
“We’ve got the best of the best of Australian rock royalty this year,” she said.
“Barnesy was hugely popular in 2011 and we’re looking forward to welcoming him back to Kununurra.”
