THE weather is warming and with the heat comes the danger of bushfire.
This week is Bushfire Action Week throughout South Australia with the key message being 'Plan to Survive'.
Despite the wet winter, bushfires will happen this summer and the Country Fire Service is encouraging everyone to plan for their personal safety and the safety of their families, as well as others at risk including neighbours, pets and livestock.
A series of events are taking place across the State this week to assist the community prepare for the Fire Danger Season and develop a Bushfire Survival Plan. The CFS has also launched a Bushfire Survival Plan online tool to assist members of the community to prepare their plan online.
"Last year's Pinery fire showed it only takes one bad afternoon for a catastrophic fire to change people's lives forever," said SA Country Fire Service Chief Officer Greg Nettleton.
"We're asking you to be as prepared as possible; have a plan in place and know what you will do if, and when, a fire starts. Think about your different options - what if your children are on holidays and you can't reach them, or if your evacuation route is blocked, how will you get out? These are just some of the things you need to consider before an emergency strikes."
