TAILS are wagging all over Western Australia in anticipation of the next Global Gypsies' Dog-Along Tour.
This canine caper to the magnificent forests of the south-west is the perfect getaway for devoted dog owners and their best friends. Clients don't need a 4WD to participate, and tents, caravans, camper trailers and motorhomes are welcome.
Because dogs aren't permitted on most organised tours, Global Gypsies developed this special tour two years ago in response to customer demand. They researched Fido-friendly venues around the state and created a customised itinerary in the Pemberton/Manjimup area which, they say, is "pooch paradise".
Highlights of the fun-filled, four-day self-drive and self-catering tour will include bushwalks in state forests, strolls along scenic riverbanks, swimming (doggie-paddling, of course!), stargazing, an optional 4WD outing to the southern beaches, a doggy treasure hunt and time to visit local attractions independently.
Organisers say human and four-legged participants will have the time of their lives and meet a litter of new friends with similar interests.
The tour runs from May 5-8 with just one base camp at historic Fonty's Pool caravan park in Manjimup.
The package includes the services of a professional tour guide, powered caravan site for three nights (optional cabins also available), complimentary welcome dinner, a range of recreational activities and a pre-departure kit. Cost is $495 per vehicle/van for one or two people and their dogs.
