It will be decked with decorations, including a six metre-tall Christmas tree in Martin Place.
Passers-by can enjoy the Christmas spirit throughout December by jumping on the interactive dance pad at the tree base, control the colour settings of the tree decorations and even text or tweet a festive message to be displayed in the tree’s branches.
Martin Place’s historic buildings, including Sydney Town Hall, the Burberry building and Bank of NSW, will be illuminated with digital projections.
From December 10 the stories and themes of Christmas will be displayed across the 75-metre facade of St Mary’s Cathedral in a sound and light display.
You can pick up a unique gift at the Christmas Fare at the Hyde Park Barracks Museum on December 17. More than 40 market stalls will offer everything from create-your-own gourmet food hampers to premium handmade produce and artisan wares.
The museum is offering free entry for the evening. Carollers can sing their hearts out at Christmas concerts at Rushcutters Bay on November 28, Rosebery on November 29, Alexandria on December 5 and Surry Hills on December 6.
Choirs will also perform at the Pitt Street Mall on Thursday evenings throughout December and every night until Christmas Eve at the Martin Place Christmas tree. As part of the city’s fabulous Christmas program, George Street will be a hive of activity with pop-up stores of local retailers, fashion parades, and the closure of Market Street for the Boxing Day sales.
For a special treat, why not take the grandchildren along to the Guide Dogs NSW/ACT graduation ceremony in Martin Place on December 8. You’ll be treated to guide dog demonstrations and be able to cuddle the adorable new puppy recruits.
