Chief executive Geoff Rowe said the 2016 diary provided clear information covering issues including wills and neighbour disputes, aged care regulations, income and pensions, elder abuse, housing and consumer issues, and outlined seniors’ rights and support services.
“Our motivation to produce this Queensland version came from seeing many older people becoming victims, unaware of their legal rights, on issues both small and large,” Mr Rowe said.
“It gives seniors critical information to protect their interests and guide them through an increasingly challenging legal environment, providing tips on everything from free mediation services to protection against elder abuse.
“While the diary doesn’t replace professional legal or financial advice, it does provide pointers as to where they can go for more information and support – and that alone can be empowering.”
Legal Aid funded the diary on the basis that its sales finance future editions.
The diary costs $10 plus postage and can be ordered by telephoning QADA on freecall 1800-818-338 or at www.qada.org.au
